Steve and Jill

“Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” – Nehemiah 4:13

While it might seem strange to include Scripture about fighting in our Family Life ministry bio page, it fits with how we describe our marriage. We always say:

“we’ve been married for 28 years – 26 of them happily!

And while we’d like to say the two unhappy years (7 and 8 if you must know) were a “rough patch” where we “didn’t see eye to eye”, the truth is that our marriage came apart. Completely.

The Truth

We know what it’s like to be on the front lines of marriage and family. Not only have we been there and done that, we’re still on the front lines. Still on the front lines between “the enemy comes to still kill and destroy,” and, “I have come to give them life and give it to the full (John 10:10 a and b).” Just like you.

James tells us to “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds (vs 1:2)”  in a letter largely about working with and alongside other people. And what is marriage and family if not the most intensely close – and important – gathering of people?

All of which explains our Scripture choice for the top of this page. Will you join us in fighting for “your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes?”
